Rob McElhenney is changing his name.
The 48-year-old actor, best know for starring in the FX series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, says that he is making the change both legally and professionally.
Rob credits the confusion over the pronunciation of his last name as the reason for the change.

“As our business and our storytelling is expanding into other regions of the world and other languages in which my name is even harder to pronounce, I’m just going by Rob Mac,” he told Variety.
Rob told the outlet that he was worried about disrespecting his family, but eventually learned “they were eager to change the name as well.”
Rob is also well known as Ryan Reynolds‘ best friend and business partner in the Wrexham football club venture. They partnered on the series Welcome to Wrexkham.
In a recent interview, Rob touched on his friend’s legal battle.
