The makers of Soothravakyam, the much-anticipated debut of director Eugien Jos Chirammel, have confirmed a new release date: July 11, 2025. Originally slated to arrive earlier in the summer, the family-oriented Malayalam satire film will now roll out the second Friday of July, giving distributors and exhibitors a more favourable calendar slot.
According to a statement from producer Srikanth Kandragula (Cinema Bandi), the brief postponement will allow the team to put the final polish on post-production and ensure that marketing and promotional activities hit their stride, setting the stage for a seamless nationwide launch.
“We are deeply grateful for the excitement around Soothravakyam,” Kandragula remarked. “This slight shift reflects our commitment to delivering a premium big-screen experience.”
A Nostalgic, Humorous Portrait of Youth and Family
Soothravakyam unfolds as a heartwarming yet witty exploration of adolescence and familial bonds in a typical Kerala township involving a classroom drama, clumsy crime, and a collision course with law enforcement — all wrapped in witty dialogues and chaotic sequences. With visuals switching between a school, a police station, and a chaotic youth-filled setting, Soothravakyam seems to blend a comedic lens with underlying social commentary. Shine Tom Chacko headlines as a police officer. The ensemble cast includes actors Vincy Aloshious, Deepak Parambol, Binoj Villya, Meenakshi Madhavi, Nazeef, Anagha, and Divya M. Nair, each adding texture to this slice-of-life narrative.
A Stellar Crew in Place
Screenwriter Rejin S. Babu weaves together elements of satire, nostalgia, and emotional resonance, capturing everything from classroom antics to the quirky dynamics of family gatherings. Cinematographer Sreeram Chandrasekharan frames the lush green backdrops and crowded township streets with equal care, while editor Nithish KTR shapes the film’s rhythm to balance comic timing with heartfelt moments. Composer Jean P. Johnson scores the film with a mix of nostalgic melodies and upbeat tracks, complemented by Manu Manjith’s evocative lyrics that underscore the film’s themes of love, loss, and youthful mischief.
